Mt Wells and Mt Macdonald ridge

from Mt Macdonald, Mt wells and victoria beyond

My neighbour and I hiked up and over 700ft Mt Wells Sunday morning. We then crossed Humpback road and climbed up to the top of Mt macdonald which is a few hundred feet Higher and looks over Mt wells. in the picture above you can see the hill in the background is Mt Wells, we hiked the ridgline of that before decending down to the road again and up to the top of macdonald where this pic was taken.
It didn't rain, but it had poured about an inch the night before and things were pretty wet, especially my feet.  Not a bird seen yet, very quiet even for February here.
We decided we had enough time to not take the trail straight back down but to take the ridge to the north before dropping down to the "Macdonald rainforest" below. No trail but I have explored around there before, looking for the Eagle nest. The woods are quite open, so trekking was nice and easy .

moss covered boulders along the Macdonald Ridge
Dropping down from the ridge was a little we went alittle too far north and ended up overlooking the Waterboard roadway, so we skirted the road and found the small valley of old growth Firs and Red Cedars
A nice small valley runs along the bottom of the mountain that leads back past humpback lake to the road where the car is parked. almost 4 miles altogether with a 1700 foot elevation change. back home for a nice shower and a pedicure
